Keanu Reeves’ long-time Matrix co-star and friend Carrie-Anne Moss has heaped praise upon the ‘kind, generous and thoughtful’ star in a tribute to him as he made the 2022 Time 100 list of the most influential people.

Penning an essay on the man and their friendship for the publication, Carrie looked back over their more than two decades of friendship, noting that he is known for his ‘kindness and generosity, despite his celebrity’.

Keanu nabbed a spot on the list that annually names the 100 most influential people.

Also making 2022’s list were Marvel star Simu Liu, Zendaya, Kardashian momager and mogul Kris Jenner, Oscar nominee Andrew Garfield, West Side Story’s Ariana DeBose and Oprah Winfrey.

Canadian favourite Keanu was in the ‘icons’ section alongside Mary J Blige, Adele, Rafael Nadal and Issa Rae, among others.

In her heartfelt essay, 57-year-old Carrie-Anne acknowledged how ‘unique’ Keanu’s fame was as she said his actions offered ‘a reprieve from the constant disappointment we have for those who get put on a pedestal.’

‘In this often unkind and shallow world, my friend Keanu gives others hope,’ she wrote in Time magazine.

We can only agree, especially following on from tales of his thoughtfulness and generosity, including buying champagne and truffles for Speed co-star Sandra Bullock, because she said she’d never had them, and gifting Rolex watches to the John Wick 4 stunt team.

The pair first worked together on The Matrix in the late 1990s, and the actress shared her memories of their first screen test together as she recalled that Keanu was ‘just as he always is: kind, generous, and thoughtful’.

Looking back over their relationship, which has spanned three more Matrix movies, including 2021’s The Matrix: Resurrections, Carrie-Anne also highlighted his loyalty as a friend.

She continued: ‘He’s still the man who checks in on me during an intense training day just as he did then. He supported me all those years ago and still does now, by the way he listens and the way he shows up as a friend.

‘I’m fiercely protective of our friendship, I know I can count on Keanu and he on me.’

If only Keanu could be a friend to us all…
