Thiago Alcantara has a ‘good chance’ of being involved in the Champions League final on Saturday, says Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Spain international became a serious doubt for Liverpool’s clash with Real Madrid in Paris after limping out of the win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

Klopp’s initial reaction did not look good as he said: ‘I think he’ll be out of the final but I don’t know. He’s limping, so it’s maybe not the best sign.’

However, things seem to have improved quickly on the injury that was first reported as a muscular problem, but has since been labelled an Achilles issue.

The Reds boss is yet to confirm that he will be involved against Real Madrid, but things are looking much better than expected for Thiago and he will likely train on Wednesday and Thursday ahead of the match.

‘He has a good chance. He will be training this afternoon,’ Klopp told a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

‘He did some stuff this morning and at the moment he looks like he can be part of training tomorrow.

‘It is surprisingly good. It doesn’t look that bad. We will see.’

After some scares in recent weeks, it looks like the Liverpool squad is coming back together nicely in time for the enormous match with Real.

Fabinho and Joe Gomez were both in full training on Wednesday, looking like they have put their respective problems behind them.

Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk had also been struggling recently but are fit and available, so if Thiago can push through his return, Klopp will have a fully fit squad to choose from.
