Kurt Angle has told fans he’s ready for the ‘long road’ to recovery after undergoing double knee replacement surgery this week.

The WWE Hall of Famer and Olympic gold medallist shared an update from his hospital bed on Tuesday after his two replacements, and revealed he was ‘feeling pretty good’.

He said: ‘Hey, this is your Olympic Hero Kurt Angle. I’m in the hospital right now because I just had knee replacements done this morning. I’m feeling pretty good right now, but my legs are numb because of the epidural.

‘So, I know I have a long road ahead of me and I’m willing to work very hard to get back to where I was before.

‘I wanna thank all of you for all of your support and your wishes and prayers for my surgery. I really do appreciate it. God bless you all!’

In the caption alongside the video on Twitter, Angle admitted ‘rehab is going to be a b***h’, but he knows he ‘can handle this’ given everything he’s been through in the past.

He wrote: ‘Thank you all for your prayers and best wishes for my 2 knee replacement surgeries today. So far so good.

‘I realize rehab is going to be a b***h, but I’m ready for it. If I won a gold medal with a broken freakin neck, I can handle this! Lol. It’s true!!!! Thank you all!!!! (sic)’

Angle’s fans and fellow stars flooded the post with messages of support, including WWE alumni and current IMPACT Wrestling producer Lance Storm.

‘Damn, all the best Kurt on a speedy recovery,’ he wrote, while Bully Ray replied: ‘You’re a warrior Kurt. Get well soon. Take care of yourself brother. Love ya!!’

The former world champion had been poised for a WWE comeback earlier this year, having being released by Vince McMahon’s company early in the pandemic, but those plans were suddenly axed.

Back in February, he explained: ‘I went to the Royal Rumble. The WWE wanted me to do a short program that they ended up canceling it at the last second.

‘But we went to the Rumble [and] my wife and I, we saw Kim Orton – my wife’s best friend. We had a great time.’
