No, you have not travelled back in time, that is in fact a picture of Dame Emma Thompson next to her daughter, Gaia Wise.

Gaia, 22, stars in the latest series of BBC’s Silent Witness and it seems she’s following in her famous mum’s footsteps in more ways than one.

The budding actress – whose father is Dame Emma’s husband, Greg Wise – looked the spitting image of her 63-year-old mum in her TV debut.

Gaia’s brunette hair was swept to one side in a pixie cut and it’s almost identical to a style Dame Emma rocked way back in 1983 – wow!

In Silent Witness, Gaia plays university student Jo Reynolds whose mother, the controversial health secretary, is assassinated.

Naturally, forensic pathologists are all over the case and want to get to the bottom of what happened, with Jo as a witness of interest.

Gaia made her debut in the first episode of series 25, titled History: Part One, which hit screens on Monday.

She stars alongside Amanda Burton, who plays Dr Sam Ryan, and of course Emilia Fox, as Dr Nikki Alexander.

But, this isn’t Gaia’s first rodeo, as she’s already appeared in a range of projects.

The 22-year-old already boasts an impressive CV, with acting credits including A Walk in the Woods.

She also featured in Last Chance Harvey, which also saw her mother take the leading role.

The new series of Silent Witness is celebrating a quarter of a century of the drama, after last airing in 2021.

This six-parter welcomes Amanda back to the cast, after she left in 2004.

Much to the delight of fans, she’s back fighting crime with all their Silent Witness favourites.

As for Gaia, this can surely only be the first of many TV roles for her, following her success in modelling.

The young star walked in Julia Clancey’s fashion show earlier this month, with both her proud famous parents on hand to give her a standing ovation.

After the show, Gaia spoke about venturing into acting, telling Richard Eden that she’s prepared to shoot nude scenes like her Love Actually star mum.

‘If it’s professionally prepared, and you’ve got the right kind of protection around you, then that’s absolutely fine,’ she said.

Silent Witness continues next Monday, 9pm on BBC One.
