Johnny Depp’s defamation trial against Amber Heard is coming to an end, with closing arguments set to be presented to the court soon.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 58, is seeking $50million in damages over a 2018 op-ed the 36-year-old penned in 2018, in which she discussed her experiences with domestic violence but did not mention him by name.

The proceedings are being held at Fairfax County Courthouse, in Virginia, and is also being livestreamed on YouTube.

Judge Penney Azcarate is presiding over the case, which began last month, before the jury begins their deliberations.

In 2008, she made history when she was elected to serve on the General District Court Bench, becoming the first female judge of that court.

Seven years later, Judge Azcarate was elevated to the Fairfax County Circuit Court.

Depp has taken legal action on his former partner over an article she wrote in the Washington Post, titled: ‘I spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change’.

While his name was not mentioned in the op-ed, his lawyers have said that this implies Heard was subjected to abuse during their marriage – something he has denied.

The Aquaman actress is countersuing for $100million, alleging that he libeled her by calling her a liar.
