The former Good Morning Britain presenter has been pretty open about promoting free speech on his show, going back to when he first opened the programme last month, boasting how much he was against censorship and cancel culture.
On opening night in fact, after the words ‘cancel culture’, ‘snowflake society’, ‘censorship’ and ‘identity politics’ flashed on the screen, Morgan actually likened himself to the first democratically-elected president of South Africa as he stated: ‘As Nelson Mandela might have said, it’s been a long walk to freedom of speech.’
But now, it appears a guest is saying she has actually been censored.
Kate Smurthwaite, comedian and activist, revealed on Twitter: ‘Today in #MyLifeIsWeird I’m sat in the green room for Piers Morgan UNCENSORED (the producer has just told me at least three things NOT to say on air LOL #ActuallyCensored) when the other guest arrives who will be on for the second half of the show. It’s JOAN COLLINS…’
Morgan was quick to reply and correct her, hitting back: ‘I just checked and nobody tried to censor you – we don’t censor guests, that’s the point of the show.’

Smurthwaite had also continued in a Twitter thread: ‘…She is escorted to a private dressing room opposite and immediately handed a glass of Dom Perignon. She declines and asks if she could have white wine instead. I generously offer to dispose of the Dom P to save on food waste in the middle of a cost of living crisis…
‘…Sadly a member of the production crew has got in first and nabbed it. After I tell Piers that the Tories are awful and we should get rid of the monarchy I return to the green room to find that Joan’s personal butler has heard about my hilarious joke/alcohol problem and…brought me a bottle of wine to take home to make it up to me. Bottoms up eh?!!’
This isn’t the first time people have called out Morgan for censoring people, as only two weeks ago the broadcaster blocked former GB News presenter Simon McCoy after the pair clashed over TalkTV’s crumbling ratings.

After the two got into a bitter feud over Twitter, McCoy was actually blocked by Morgan, which amused many people considering his loud stance on free-speech.
‘You’ve been censored,’ teased one of McCoy’s followers, which was echoed by another equally bemused fan who wrote: ‘He bangs on about free speech, unless you don’t agree with him obviously.’
The irony! (Picture: Twitter)
This follows Uncensored seeing a plummet in viewer ratings, with an all-time low of just 10,000 tuning in last Wednesday night.
Before that, he was beaten by Nigel Farage when show figures fell to their lowest yet. Farage’s 7pm show peaked at 73,600 viewers, whereas Morgan’s 8pm slot only managed 58,800 viewers.
Piers Morgan: Uncensored airs weekdays from 8pm on TalkTV.
