Suarez bid an emotional farewell to the Spanish club earlier this week after two seasons spearheading Diego Simeone’s forward line.
The Uruguay international’s goals helped Atletico to a surprise La Liga title 12 months ago, but he had been forced to settle for more of a bit-part role last season.
Several MLS sides have expressed an interest in signing the former Liverpool forward, who enjoyed stellar success during his incident-packed and often controversial spell in the Premier League.
Suarez, however, wants to continue his career in an elite European league and although his preference would be to remain in Spain, according to the Telegraph, England remains an option.
Should he opt for a move to the Midlands, Suarez would team up with his former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard who, as the club’s manager, is set to embark on a major rebuilding job this summer.

Suarez would also enjoy a reunion with another former Liverpool teammate, Philppe Coutinho, whose move to Villa on a permanent basis was confirmed earlier this month after a cut-price £17million fee was agreed with Barcelona.
Gerrard has kept in regular touch with Suarez and recently described him as the best player he ever played alongside at Liverpool.
Asked to pick between Fernando Torres and Suarez, Gerrard old Gary Neville’s The Overlap: ‘I get asked this question all the time – all the time – listen, both phenomenal, but I’d say Suarez just because he had everything and, I mean, how long have you got to describe him?
‘I played with some top players, you know your [Xabi] Alonsos of this world, [Javier] Mascheranos, Torress, but Suarez was just different.
‘You just felt no matter who you were playing, you just had a feeling that he was gonna win you the game, every game, didn’t matter who it was.’
