Imran is pleading for forgiveness – but it’s too little too late (Picture: ITV)
The game is up for dodgy lawyer Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) in Coronation Street as a week of dramatic episodes have opened with him snivelling down the phone that he will be in the dock for his crimes.
Imran is used to fighting for justice – who can forget his sizzling performance on the stand against abuser Geoff Metcalfe – but this time he is on the wrong side of the law.
In a bid to get custody of Alfie, sneaky Imran has been setting Abi Webster (Sally Carman) up, paying contacts to say she has been on drugs again.
What this has left is Abi facing the prospect of never seeing her son as he stays with Imran and Toyah (Georgia Taylor).
Now that he has won, smug Imran is ever so slightly contrite but as Abi pushes forward with a plan to take Alfie away as she flees the Street, desperate measures will lead to downfalls.
And, judging from a flashforward scene of Imran begging for forgiveness down the phone, it isn’t going to end well for Imran.
Amid a police presence on the Street and with Abi and Kevin (Michael le Vell) being questioned at the station, Imran is tearfully explaining his actions down the phone.
With a terrifying and potentially fatal car crash about to rock the cobbles, Imran discussing how he has made terrible mistakes and is so sorry for what has happened may refer to a tragedy.
He comments that, with his crimes of perjury he will be facing prison himself, and after all of this, there may be little sympathy for him.
He ends up in what could be more than an accident and we know he will be trying to get a response from an injured Toyah as he begs her to live.
As well as destroying Abi, will he now have his wife’s blood on his hands?
It’s no secret that Charlie is leaving the show so could Imran’s fears that he will be going down be founded?
Or will there be a more final ending in store?
