A 25-year-old man has pleaded guilty to brutally murdering an elderly guest at a hostel for the homeless where the pair were both staying.

Jordan Graham, of no fixed address, was accused of repeatedly stamping on 69-year-old Abu Yusuf Twaha at the hostel in Hackney, east London, in September 2020.

Mr Twaha was rushed to hospital where doctors discovered bleeding on his brain.

Efforts were made to treat his injuries but he died in February last year.

Prosecutors described the attack as a ‘savage’ and ‘unprovoked’ assault lasting several minutes.

Graham had previously pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He admitted to murder at a hearing at the Old Bailey on Monday.

The defendant is due to be sentenced on July 11 and has been remanded in custody until then.
