EastEnders fans aren’t happy following the news the soap will change it’s theme tune for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
It’s already been confirmed Prince Charles and Camilla will feature within the episode, with Mick (Danny Dyer) and Linda (Kellie Bright) greeting the Royal couple outside the pub, before introducing them to the Walford residents.
To mark the special occasion, the EastEnders theme tune has been rewritten.
Featuring at the end of the episode, the piece of music has been composed by Simon May, the original theme tune composer.
Ahead of the Royal visit, many EastEnders fans are expressing their opinion on the news the iconic theme tune will change.
‘Can they stop going on about the Jubilee? No one cares!!’, one Twitter user wrote.
Another EastEnders fan joked: ‘Think this will send our Shirl over the edge!’.
‘Jubilee scenes already ruining my day’, another user tweeted.
While some viewers aren’t too keen on the Platinum Jubilee, there are some who think making a few changes to the soap is the perfect way to celebrate the Queen’s 70 years on the throne.
Reacting to the news, an EastEnders and Royal family follower said: ‘Lovely. I do not accept any tinkering with the EastEnders theme tune, unless it is done by the peerless @SimonMayMusic. Though nothing will ever out do Julia’s Theme’.
Commenting on this latest news, Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer, said: ‘To have Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall not only visit us all in Walford, but to also appear in an episode, we felt it was only right that we marked this extremely momentous episode with a fitting tribute.

‘What better way than to wish Their Royal Highnesses on their way from Albert Square than with a special Jubilee version of our iconic theme tune, remastered by the very talented Simon May.’
