Tonight’s episode of hit ITV soap Coronation Street is sure to shock fans even further.

Tuesday (May 31) night’s dramatic episode followed the aftermath of Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) discovering Abi’s (Sally Carman) intention to kidnap baby Alfie and run away together.

Imran became angry, refusing to allow wife Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) to tell the police about her scheme – with Kevin (Michael LeVell) also urging Imran not to call the cops.

Tensions bubble up, and just as Imran decided to confess his betrayal to Toyah, including about having Ben lie in court, something happens – and we next see the two lying knocked out in a wrecked car.

Did any characters die in the wreck, though? And will we ever get to see the actual crash itself?

Yes, sadly, the Coronation Street car crash will claim one of its characters.

Imran Habeeb is leaving the Cobbles for good, as he died in tonight’s episode following the crash aftermath.

Actor Charlie de Melo, 32, is moving on to new projects after five years playing Toyah’s husband.

Back in March 2022, Charlie told Metro.co.uk about how he felt that Imran was a ‘selfish’ character.

He said: ‘Imran is far more selfish than he would let on… You’re never supposed to judge your character but I feel I’ve been doing this long enough that I’m allowed to have an opinion of him now.

‘I think he presents himself as heroic and wants to be seen like that. But I don’t think anything he does is selfless.’

It was in early March that it was first revealed that Charlie would be stepping away from Weatherfield.

Will we actually see the Coronation Street car crash?

Apparently, we will.

When it first happened in Tuesday (May 31) night’s episode, fans saw Imran and Toyah knocked out in the car, but did not witness the grislier scenes of the car crash.

It seems that scenes of the wreck will be seen through a character’s flashback in the instalment on Friday (June 3).

And there’ll be even more happening in the aftermath to keep fans gripped.
