Will Imran die following the unseen car crash? (Picture: ITV)

Coronation Street fans were left confused last night when Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) were found unconscious in a car.

Fans didn’t see any actual car crash scenes – though it is expected the dramatic wreck will appear in flashbacks.

The shocking incident occurred after Abi (Sally Carman) threatened to flee abroad with Imran’s child Alfie – prompting Toyah to tell Imran to call the police, something he didn’t want to do.

Toyah ultimately decided to report Abi anyway, but Imran caught up to her – and was about to confess his betrayals before the crash.

We already know that we’ll see a climax to Imran, Abi and Toyah’s storyline in the coming days, as it’s known that Imran actor Charlie is about to depart the hit ITV soap.

But is his character set to perish in future scenes?

Imran is leaving as Charlie de Melo is saying goodbye to the character after five years.

Back in March 2022, a source told The Sun of his departure: ‘Charlie’s loved his time on the soap but the time is right to try new things.

‘He’s hugely talented and very ambitious and wants to see what else is out there. He will always cherish his time in Weatherfield but for now it’s goodbye.’

Of course, his exit brings about an epic ending to the years-long relationship between Imran and Toyah.

Toyah actress Georgia Taylor has spoken about the sad departure in a recent chat to various media, confessing that she was left ‘heartbroken’ over Charlie’s decision to leave.

She shared: ‘I absolutely adore him. He’s been a dream, an absolute dream.

‘We have been together on the show for three and a half years but in the last year, since we’ve done all the stuff with Seb’s trial, we’ve been pretty consistently busy and most of our stuff has been together and it’s just been a joy

‘He’s so funny so we laugh a lot but he is honestly one of the most supportive people I have ever worked with and even now, we’re still in touch obviously, he’s texting me, ‘How did the day go? Are you OK?’

‘He’s just a team player. And I mean look at him, there’s no complaints there either. He’s beautiful.’

Does Imran die in Coronation Street?

Charlie has finished filming as Imran – but you’ll just have to watch the soap to find out what becomes of him.

Producer Iain MacLeod has previously discussed the explosive exit storyline for Imran, saying: ‘Imran is forced to look in a mirror and consider himself and the man he is.

‘It’s a big buried bomb just waiting for people to end up in the blast radius. It won’t be for months but the way it happens is very surprising.

‘It’s big and shocking and it’s the last thing you’d expect from something this way. It turns into a gobsmacking cataclysm.

‘It’s intimate but the shock will make people fall off their chairs. It’s no secret that Sally is a fantastic actor, rightly awarded, so it’s exciting to keep her and draw in Mike, Georgie, Charlie. Smack them in the middle of something colossal.’
