EastEnders is set to kill off popular Lola Pearce in a massive storyline this summer, amid reports that Danielle Harold won’t be the only one heading out of Albert Square.

The actress was reportedly left ‘teary’ after being told the news with six months of her contract remaining.

And it seems like there will be no way for the character to return as she makes her dramatic exit in a wave of blockbuster summer storylines.

New boss Chris Clenshaw will make his mark, as with previous producers before him, and it seems like there are major plans.

A soap insider told The Sun: ‘Dan was in pieces. The cull came out of the blue.

Daniella has played the character on and off since 2011, with her most recent return in 2019 (Picture: BBC)

‘She was not expecting the chop because her character has been a firm favourite with viewers. She’ll be written out with no option to return.

‘Danielle was teary but was told a number of the cast were being shown the door.

‘No-one else has been given their marching orders yet however.’

Metro.co.uk contacted EastEnders but they aren’t offering comment on the story.

It has been added by outlet’s source that Danielle is ‘eager to throw herself into the storyline.’

Danielle returned to the role of Lola in 2019, although fans often bemoaned her lack of prominent storylines.

Her most recent plotline was as the love interest of Isaac Baptiste, who was battling schizophrenia.

Danielle’s previous stint lasted four years between 2011 and 2015 and one of the key arcs has been her on/off love story with Jay Brown.

A date for the departure has yet to be confirmed and details of what happens are being kept under wraps.
