Royal watchers were left in stitches when a woman appeared to nod off during the spectacular Platinum Pageant on Sunday.

Viewers tuning in to the finale celebrating the Queen’s historic 70-year reign cracked up after spotting the guest with her eyes closed and head tilted to one side – right behind Prince Charles.

The Prince of Wales stood up in the royal box to take in the festivities as the hordes of performers passed by below.

But those watching at home were distracted by someone else sat just to the left of him on screen.

Tash Crump, a marketing executive, commented: ‘The woman falling asleep behind Prince Charles to the point they had to change camera angle had us in stitches, bless her!

‘Sometimes you just need a snooze.’

Another woman tweeted saying: ‘Someone wake that lady up, she’s been asleep the last 15 minutes.’

And a third, Amanda Burt, added: ‘Jeez how embarrassed will that woman be when she realises the world has noted her falling asleep.’

William and Kate, accompanied by their children George, Louis and Charlotte, joined Charles and Camilla in the royal box.

Viewers were treated to a tender moment when the Prince of Wales comforted a restless Louis by hoisting him up and sitting him in his lap.

The royals in attendance showed their funny side, giggling as Zara Tindall playfully poked a flag in George’s ear.

They also joined the crowds in marvelling at the Gold State Coach as it travelled down The Mall with a hologram of the Queen on the day of her Coronation beamed into the windows.

A cast of 6,000 performers took to the streets of central London, with the procession spared the rain.

Attendees enjoyed a parade of hundreds of ‘national treasures’ including Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, and Sir Cliff Richard, with Ed Sheeran taking to the stage to sing at the end.
