Ed Sheeran’s had a busy few weeks of work but he’s now resuming his most important job – being a dad.

The Bad Habits singer was a highlight at this weekend’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, delivering an emotional performance of his ballad Perfect in honour of the Queen’s 70-year reign at the Pageant on Sunday.

Moments after his acoustic version of the track, Her Majesty appeared on the balcony at Buckingham Palace alongside senior members of the Royal family, just behind the stage where Ed had performed.

Ed’s set came just a week after he performed at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Coventry, so it’s no surprise he’s ready to retreat back to his family for a while.

During an interview with Anita Rani on BBC One before his performance, the singer said: ‘I’m going back [to daddy duties] after this. I think we’re going to have a curry.’

The Thinking Out Loud singer announced he had welcomed his second child with wife Cherry Seaborn on May 19 after keeping the pregnancy a secret.

The couple are already parents to 21-month-old daughter Lyra Antarctica who they welcomed in August 2020.

Sharing a photo of a pair of baby booties on a knitted blanket, he told his fans on Instagram: ‘Want to let you all know we’ve had another beautiful baby girl.

‘We are both so in love with her, and over the moon to be a family of 4 x.’

Ed and Cherry, who married in 2019 after four years of dating, are yet to share the name of their second baby girl, but if her older sister is anything to go by, it’ll be a unique and beautiful moniker.

Elsewhere during his interview with Anita, the Brit award-winning singer said: ‘This is like a full circle nostalgia moment. This is the event I picked up a guitar at seeing Eric Clapton and then 10 years ago go to play it at the Diamond Jubilee.

‘I find it really surreal. I do find it really surreal. I’ve still got the [2002 Golden Jubilee concert] Party at the Palace DVD in my house. These events make you pinch yourself.’

He added: ‘It’s vary rare you actually get days like this to feel patriotic. I think the last like this was the Euros final.’
