Marvel fans were offered a first glimpse of the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder during Sunday’s MTV Movie & TV Awards.

While future audiences have already been treated to the trailer – which features a terrifying Christian Bale as villain Gorr the God Butcher – bosses have now released a singular scene.

The sneak peek is an extended version of a clip seen in the trailer, and sees Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, in the heat of battle calling for his hammer.

His face lights up as his hammer, Mjolnir, flies towards him but is then thrown back and grasped by Jane Foster – aka The Mighty Thor.

Love and Thunder will release worldwide on July 8 and looks set to be the most exciting Thor installment yet, with Taika Waititi and Natalie Portman boh also appearing in the epic.

It will be a triumphant return for Star Wars actress Natalie, who appeared in the first two Thor films in 2011 and 2013 – almost a full decade, (or eight years, seven months and six days, as Thor points out in the trailer.)

The trailer itself was released in May, debuting in the US during the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics NBA game.

It opens with narration from warrior Korg, played by the film’s director Taika, who tells a group of alien children about Thor – ‘the space viking.’

Love and Thunder will see the Go of Thunder embark on a new journey for inner peace, while also working alongside Jane to stop the villainous God Butcher.

Of course, to do that they’ll need some extra help, in the form of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg, and fellow Marvel heroes The Guardians of the Galaxy.

Another new character set to appear is the Greek God Zeus, played by none other than Russell Crowe.

Russell has totally embraced his new role as the character, even changing his Twitter profile picture to the God of the Sky.

Thor: Love and Thunder is due in cinemas on July 8.
